INTRODUCING OUR NEW MUSICAL DIRECTOR
A native of Stanley, with a background in local music festivals, brass bands and county youth ensembles, Emily joined the Band of the Welsh Guards at eighteen, performing as leader of their string orchestra, a cornet player and a pianist. After an exciting and varied career, which included professional accompanying, solo piano performances and chamber recitals in the Central London area, Emily moved back to the North East in 2011 and, following a PGCE at Durham University, took up the post of Assistant Director of Music at Durham School. Taking on additional roles at Sage, Gateshead, including piano tutor and Music Language Study Leader, has enabled Emily to continue to develop her enthusiasms for music education at all levels. Emily is absolutely delighted to be taking on the mantle of Musical Director of the Low Fell Singers, and is looking forward to leading this talented and friendly choir in continuing their remarkable journey.
